4×2 is a reference used to represent the drive of heavy trucks where the former digit represents the pairs of tires while the latter digit represents the number of tire axles of the pairs. Both numbers are divided by two to get the number of axles (and driving axle). Taking the example of 4×2, the truck has 2 axles in total with 1 as the driving axle.
